I recently finished my Masters in CS with a specialization in data analytics at the University of Chicago. In addition to class, I worked on implementing new statistical methods in Python at the Center for Spatial Data Science, and migrating a new high performance computing cluster at the Center for Research Informatics. Two summers ago, I worked at the Computation Institute to improve a command line caching tool used by physicists. Last summer, I worked on building out anomaly detection services at Pandora.
My hobbies/interests include cycling, vintage audio, rap/hip hop, and augmented reality.
Real Time Music Streaming Analytics - A simple demonstration of how gathering and analyzing a stream of data can be easily handled with Hadoop, Pig, HBase, Kafka, and Python. This web app uses a combination of real and synthetic data to track current popular songs and genres by city, and uses lambda architecture to handle batch, serving, and speed layers. link
